Legislator of the Year (2024) for work in suicide prevention by New Hampshire state chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness.

Legislative Champion for her advocacy and legislative leadership in gun violence prevention by Gun Sense New Hampshire (2024).

The Legislative Champion Award from the National Coalition on Adult Education for securing funding for vital programs by Exeter Adult Education (2023).

Domestic & Sexual violence Prevention Champion by the Exeter Area General Federation of Women’s Clubs (2021).

Statewide Committees and Commissions: Senator Altschiller is an active member of the New Hampshire Suicide Prevention Council, the Legislative Oversight Committee on School Vouchers, and the Seacoast Drinking Water Commission. She previously served on the inaugural Oversight for Children’s Services Committee for the first 5 years of its existence and the hiring sub-committee for the first NH Office of the Child Advocate.

Community Volunteering: Senator Altschiller’s commitment to building community is reflected in her over 25 years of volunteer service on the Seacoast. Most recently you can find her at the Hampton Beach Seafood Fest, the New England Hot Sauce Festival at Smuttynose, Exeter Powder-Keg & Chili Fest, 10 years at the Stratham Fair, Stratham’s 4-H Summerfest and with End 68 Hours of Hunger. She is a frequent featured speaker around the Seacoast with talks on Reproductive Rights, Voting Rights, NH Energy Policy and New Hampshire Government 101.

Family: Senator Altschiller is married (31 years) to her true love, they three fabulous children who bring two exciting partners to the family and an adorable, sassy dog.

Favorite NH Activity: I love climbing to the top of the Stratham Hill Park fire tower to take in the breathtaking views and hunting for sand dollars at Hampton State Park beach. My district has an incredible food scene with nationally recognized and up and coming chefs that I cannot get enough of!
