5:2-a Special Deputy Secretary of State. –
The secretary of state may appoint a special deputy secretary of state who shall serve for not more than 90 days in any one fiscal year. The special deputy secretary of state appointed under this section shall exercise the duties and functions delegated to him or her, and all duties and functions exercised by him or her while so acting shall have the same validity and effect as though performed by the secretary of state.
