HB 570-FN - FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT relative to motor vehicle records of persons involved in accidents.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Safety has determined this bill will increase state expenditures by an indeterminable amount in FY 2004 and each year thereafter. There will be no fiscal impact on county and local expenditures or state, county and local revenues.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department stated this bill intends to allow the release of a person's motor vehicles records who were involved in a motor vehicle accident in response to a request from another person involved in the accident, or from a law enforcement agency for purposes of correcting or updating incorrect or out of date information provided by the person at the accident scene. The Department does not know how many requests it will receive, and therefor, cannot estimate the fiscal impact.
