STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand One
AN ACT relative to plumber's licenses.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 New Section; Plumbers and Plumbing; Limited Apprentice License. Amend RSA 329-A by inserting after section 9 the following new section:
329-A:9-a Limited Apprentice License. Any person, having successfully completed one year of an apprenticeship program acceptable to the board and upon payment of a fee established by the board, shall be entitled to examination and, if found qualified by a majority of the board members, be licensed to install plumbing in one and 2 family residential buildings without supervision of a master or journeyman plumber. A limited apprentice license issued under this section shall be carried on the person licensed and displayed at any time upon request. An apprentice refused a limited apprentice license may be reexamined at any subsequent meeting of the board within one year of the time of the refusal without additional fee and thereafter may be examined as often as he or she may desire upon payment of a fee established by the board.
2 Plumbers and Plumbing; Examinations; Licenses. Amend RSA 329-A:7 to read as follows:
329-A:7 Examinations; Licenses. The board shall have authority to examine and license master plumbers and journeyman plumbers and to examine apprentices for limited apprentice licenses and issue such licenses. When issued, such license shall be valid throughout the state, and the licensee shall be entitled to perform the work of a master or journeyman plumber, or the work allowed by a limited apprentice license, as the case may be, anywhere within the state without any payment or additional fee. Each applicant for a license shall present to the secretary of the board on a blank furnished by the board a written application for license, containing such information as the board may require, accompanied by the required fee. Such examinations shall be held at such times and places as the board shall determine. The scope of such examinations and the methods of procedure shall be prescribed by the board.

I. Any person, firm or corporation which installs any plumbing or drainage without first having obtained a license as either a master plumber or as a journeyman plumber, or which performs the work authorized by a limited apprentice license unless he or she is an apprentice as defined in this chapter performing supervised plumbing, or which employs a person to do plumbing who has no such license, unless he or she is an apprentice performing supervised plumbing, or procures any license wrongfully or by fraud, shall be guilty of a violation.
4 Effective Date. This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
