AN ACT relative to salaries for the wardens of department of corrections facilities.
Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:
1 Salary; Warden, Lakes Region Facility. Amend RSA 94:1-a, I(b) by:
I. Deleting in group FF:
Department of Corrections warden, lakes region facility
II. Inserting in group HH:
Department of Corrections warden, lakes region facility
2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.

HB 1241-FN - FISCAL NOTE
AN ACT relative to salaries for wardens of department of corrections facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Department of Administrative Services states this bill will increase state general fund expenditures by $1,564 in FY 2002, $3,813 in FY 2003, $4,685 in FY 2004, $5,528 in FY 2005, and $10,093 in FY 2006. There will be no fiscal impact on state, county, and local revenue or county and local expenditures.
METHODOLOGY:
The Department states this bill increases the salary of the Warden of the Lakes Region Correctional Facility from unclassified Group FF to unclassified Group HH, the same level as the salary for the Warden of the Northern Correctional Facility in Berlin. The increase will take place on December 28, 2001, the date on which RSA 94:1-a, I is repealed and reenacted by Chapter 158, Laws of 2001. The Department assumes that the incumbent Warden of the Lakes Region Facility will be in place when the change in salary occurs. The incumbent will move from a Group FF, Step 2 salary of $59,570 to a Group HH, Step 3 salary of $61,940 on December 28, 2001. The combination of these changes is used to calculate the FY 2002 annual salary and the fiscal impact that will reflect the six months of salary at the higher rate. The increase in salary and benefit costs are as follows:

Associated incarceration costs for the Department will be impacted by the projected expenses tied to the salary changes in the amounts above. There is not estimated to be an impact upon prosecution, probation, and parole costs.
Additional annual expense outlays will not be required as current expenses and travel expenses, which may be impacted by the position, are already considered in the Department of Corrections budget for the current classified position.
