HB 553 FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT requiring background checks for nursing home employees.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Safety states this bill will have an indeterminable impact on state restricted revenues and expenditures and on local revenues and expenditures. There will be no fiscal impact on county revenues or expenditures.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department of Safety, Division of State Police, Criminal Records Bureau charges a $10 fee for an in-state criminal record check. The fees are credited to the Criminal Records Revolving Fund, a non-lapsing fund, which supports activities related to background checks. The Department could not estimate the number of additional record checks that would be conducted. If the number of additional checks is significant, additional clerks would be needed at an annual coat of $21,000-$25,000 each, including benefits.
