ANALYSIS

This bill requires the department of revenue administration to establish by rule a uniform system of property classification for assessment purposes. Each municipality shall be required to use this system beginning with its next full revaluation of property.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand One

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Paragraph; Duties of Commissioner. Amend RSA 21-J:3 by inserting after paragraph V the following new paragraph:

V-a. Establish a uniform system of property classification for assessment purposes.

2 New Section; Uniform System of Property Classification. Amend RSA 21-J by inserting after section 9-a the following new section:

21-J:9-b Uniform System of Property Classification. The commissioner shall establish a uniform system of property classification for assessment purposes. This system shall be used for assessments of property in all municipalities, beginning with each municipality's first full revaluation of property following the effective date of this section.

3 New Paragraph; Rulemaking; Uniform System of Property Classification. Amend RSA 21-J:13 by inserting after paragraph VI the following new paragraph:

VI-a. A uniform system of property classification for assessment purposes.

4 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
