SB 178 FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT relative to uniform computer information transactions.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Departments of Administrative Services and State are unable to determine the fiscal impact of this bill.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department of Administrative Services states this bill will impact the contractual terms and conditions for multi-million dollar purchases of "shrink-wrapped" or "over-the-counter" software made by the State each year. In addition, there are potential fiscal consequences associated with the need for the State to assign more staff to the negotiation and administration of software contracts and licenses, the increased network security required to comply with software vendor licensing restrictions, the increased cost of pursuing remediation from software vendors due to defective product, and the increased time required to assure software reliability and quality prior to delivery. The Department is unable to determine the fiscal impact at this time.

The Department of State states this bill will have an indeterminable fiscal impact.

The Department of Justice states this bill will have no fiscal impact on the Department.
