HB 1518-FN - FISCAL NOTE
AN ACT relative to in pro pria persona and pro se litigants.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Administrative Office of the Courts has determined this bill will increase state expenditures by an indeterminable amount in FY 2001 and each year thereafter. There will be no fiscal impact on county and local expenditures or on state, county and local revenue.
METHODOLOGY:
The Administrative Office of the Courts stated this bill will have a significant fiscal impact on the Branch resulting in increased costs due to judge and staff time. The Branch is unable to estimate the costs because of the variable of motions in pro se cases in particular. In the district and probate courts, the bill would result in the need for law clerks to assist in researching the orders, and in the superior court the bill could also result in the need for additional law clerks. All courts would require additional staff to type and prepare orders. The Branch assumes the fiscal impact would exceed $100,000 per year.
