HB 1497-FN-LOCAL - FISCAL NOTE

AN ACT granting female prisoners in-state access to the same type of rehabilitation programs available to male prisoners.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The Department of Corrections has determined this bill will increase state general fund expenditures by $22,161 in FY 2001, $46,288 in FY 2002, $48,382 in FY 2003, and by $50,579 in FY 2004. There will be no fiscal impact on county and local expenditures or on state, county and local revenues.

METHODOLOGY:

The Department of Corrections has stated the sex offender program is the only program available to male prisoners but not available to female prisoners. The Department stated to offer this program, it would require one new full-time Psychological Associate position at labor grade 23. The costs reflect one half year in FY 2001 and 31% for benefits.
