HB 1475-FN - FISCAL NOTE
AN ACT relative to the applicable minimum wage for hourly employees.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The N.H. Association of Counties and the N.H. Municipal Association indicate this bill will increase county and local expenditures by an indeterminable amount beginning in FY 2000 and continuing each year thereafter. There will be no fiscal impact on state, county and local revenue or state expenditures.
METHODOLOGY:
The Association of Counties states this bill will have a minimum impact. The Association conducted a survey and found only 7 employees in the 10 counties are paid minimum wage.
The Municipal Association states there does not appear to be a major cost associated with this bill since many mid to large size communities are paying a majority of their employees more than the minimum wage, and that only poll workers, library staff and part-time summer staff would be affected.
The Department of Labor states there would be no effect on state expenditures since state hourly wages are higher than those indicated in the bill.
