HB 1439-FN - FISCAL NOTE
AN ACT relative to operation of a motor vehicle under a learner's permit.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Department of Safety has stated this bill will have an indeterminable impact on state highway fund and restricted revenue and expenditures in FY 2001 and each year thereafter. There will be no fiscal impact on county and local revenue and expenditures.
METHODOLOGY:
The Department has estimated gross revenue to be received from issuing learner's permits of $141,000 per year, based on approximately 9,400 licenses per year issued to 16 year-olds. The Department cannot determine the costs associated with issuing the permits because the costs will depend on factors such as whether the permits will have picture identifications, will be laminated, sent by mail or picked up, etc. Therefor, the Department cannot estimate the net fiscal impact.
