Personal Biography
My name is Suraj Budathoki, and I am a husband, father, business owner, doctoral student, peace activist, and above all, I am a proud American. America is not just where my family and I immigrated; it is the country that gave me a second chance to rebuild my life from scratch to where I am now.
My journey is unlike most. I grew up amid instability and struggle. At the age of 9, my family was expelled from our country, and spent the next 20 years in inhumane conditions in refugee camps.
Despite these challenges, I held on to hope. At 29, I experienced the indescribable joy of coming to the US. After five years, I was granted citizenship for the first time since not even my home country granted me that. American became my nationality, and New Hampshire became my home.
America offered me more than just ""a place to live” - it offered me hope, stability, and a new beginning. With access to higher education at Manchester Community College, I completed my bachelor's degree at Southern New Hampshire University and eventually graduated from Norwich University.
I am proud to own a business with my partners, providing services to others who need care, and my wife Ganga is also a proud, hardworking business owner. Together, we own multiple businesses, employing more than 70 people. My wife and I reside in Manchester with our two children, Brianna and Bastian.
Local Government Involvement
The Manchester Mayor appointed me to serve as a Conduct Board Member.
