It shall be the duty of the Committee on Children and Family Law to consider matters relating to children and youth, their rights, obligations, and protection, including all matters covered by RSA 169-B, 169-C, and 169-D, divorce, custody and child support; the application of criminal laws and sentencing to children and such other matters as may be referred to it.

Personal Biography
Heather Raymond is an expert on child development and family dynamics who has spent her career advocating for children in need.

Mrs. Raymond earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Worcester State University. She began her career in upstate New York where she specialized in working with children who had experienced severe trauma before moving to Nashua in 2010.

In New Hampshire, Mrs. Raymond worked for the NH Division of Children Youth and Families and CASA of New Hampshire advocating for children who were victims of abuse or neglect. A large part of Mrs. Raymond’s professional experience has been visiting local schools, participating in IEP meetings, and navigating Special Education Law.

Mrs. Raymond was elected to the Nashua Board of Education in November 2017. She served as Chair of the Policy Committee in 2018 and as President of the BoE in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Mrs. Raymond was re-elected to a second 4-year term in November 2021 and is serving as Board Policy Chair. Mrs. Raymond was elected State Representative for Hillsborough District 5, Nashua in November 2022. At the Statehouse, she served on the Child and Family Law Committee and the DCYF Advisory Board.

Mrs. Raymond is a passionate supporter of strong public schools, sound fiscal policies, environmental protections, and maintaining rights for women, LGTBQ+ Persons, and minorities. In addition to her work at the state and city, she volunteers with local community service agencies.
