Personal Biography
I have lived in Dover for twelve years. I am semi-retired and still self-employed in the
construction industry as a tile installer and manager of custom kitchen and bath remodels. With
my husband, I also manage rental property and help care for my elderly mother.
Before working in residential construction, I was a public health nutritionist for 20 years in
community health centers primarily with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition
program. I have always had a great passion for food and nutrition, spending my young adulthood
cooking in restaurants and a homeless shelter in Boston. I earned my B. A. at the University of
Massachusetts in Amherst, majoring in Economics, and a M.S. at the University of California,
Davis, in Nutrition and International Agricultural Development. In graduate school, I spent almost
a year working on nutrition research in Nicaragua.
Local Government Involvement
I am joining the board of the Strafford County Community Action Partnership. I am
applying to serve on the Dover Cemetery Board.
Miscellaneous Information:
For ten years I had a farm in rural North Carolina with my family. We grew vegetables
and blueberries and raised goats and turkeys. I’ve also lived on a boat. Now in my
free time I take hikes, ride my bike, and refinish old furniture.
