This amendment is being framed as “no income tax, not now, not ever”. What it actually does is lock in a future of NO new revenue options, especially for corporations and those with the greatest means to contribute. This amendment doesn’t protect freedom but rather restricts the opportunity for our state to grow - by not investing in infrastructure, education, and the real needs of the people this legislative body is supposed to serve. The message I'm receiving is "Live Free if you have money. Just Die if you don't." I urge the Committee to reject CACR12.
