I have only recently become aware of this bill, but I would like to offer my support as a member of the public who has taken a growing interest in legislation related to pharmacists and healthcare. As a mother of five, I’ve seen firsthand how costly and inefficient routine care can be. After a recent doctor’s visit for my daughter to test for strep throat, we received a bill of over $500 for a simple diagnostic service. Situations like this highlight the need for more accessible, flexible care options. While I understand SB 504 is not specifically about expanding test-and-treat services, I strongly support its broader goal of modernizing pharmacy practice. Enabling pharmacists to operate with greater flexibility, in alignment with current technology and healthcare needs, is a practical step forward. Policy should keep pace with innovation. Expanding the role of pharmacists where appropriate can increase access, reduce unnecessary burdens on higher-cost care settings, and ultimately help lower healthcare costs for families like mine. For these reasons, I encourage you to support SB 504.
