As someone who drives motor vehicles, rides bicycles, walks, and attends town meetings in this state, I support SB559 because it allows individual towns to set a speed limit that makes sense for their municipality. If residents in a certain area feel that a 5mph reduction in the posted speed would have significant negative consequences for them, I am confident that they would be able to handle this at the town level, and would not choose to lower the speed limit. Not allowing people in a community to choose to make sections of their town safer for those who live there or travel through is overreach that people in New Hampshire do not want. Thank you.
