Students should see their teachers as safe adults in their lives, but when legislation like this is put in place that safety is put at risk. Students should be able to trust that information shared with a trusted teacher is not reported to their parents. Every child should have a place they are comfortable and allowed to be themselves and for some, that place is at school. Taking away places that children can feel safe and supported will only cause harm.
