As a retired teacher of middle school students for decades, I vehemently OPPOSE this book ban bill. Teachers are highly educated, dedicated, and wise leaders of our culture. They teach students to learn about the world and make wise choices. Stop trying to control what teachers, not politicians, know how to do best. If you want to ban some books, perhaps you should read them first. It might open your heart to how 'others' live. It might give you the gumption to stand up for an education which allows ALL students to feel as if they belong in our world. All means all. If you do not believe that, you should not be representing US. Public education is meant to educate, not indoctrinate. ALL of my experience tells me that almost ALL public school teachers have a clear understanding of this premise. Let those who wish to indoctrinate teach in the private schools, where that is often the practice. BTW, First Amendment....you in? or are you just following what someone told you to follow....
