School districts already have policies for curriculum selection, a policy to challenge a book, and a policy that allows a parent to request alternate materials for their child. Our librarians, curriculum administrators, and educators are professionals with the credentials to choose what is appropriate for each and all of the individual learners in our school district. Again, when a parent finds material inappropriate for their child, there is a policy in place for that parent to request alternate materials. The current policies and practices work well.
