A targeted fix to restore a financeable 20-year net metering term for municipal group net metering projects, this bill is critical for enabling towns and local governments to invest in clean energy. Net metering is critical to these projects, letting owners earn credit for excess energy sent to the grid. Without predictable compensation beyond 20 years, banks, investors, and developers hesitate to move forward. Uncertainty over eligibility is now the biggest barrier to municipal renewable projects. For NH municipalities and schools, local renewable energy provides reliable revenue, budget relief and long-term cost control for taxpayers. Already 38 communities across the state support this bill!
