I oppose SB 101 because it creates an open enrollment system that shifts funding away from local public schools and into a model with little accountability. While it’s framed as expanding choice, in practice it risks destabilizing district budgets, increasing inequities between communities, and leaving some schools with fewer resources to serve the students who remain. Our focus should be on strengthening all public schools, not creating policies that pit districts against each other for funding.
