I strongly oppose SB?552. This bill would allow discrimination against transgender and non-binary residents, letting schools, workplaces, and public spaces exclude people based on “biological sex.” This is not protection — it is permission to treat some New Hampshire residents as less equal. Transgender people are already vulnerable. SB?552 would force them into unsafe, stigmatizing situations, increasing the risk of harassment and harm. Claims that this bill protects privacy or safety are unsupported by evidence. True safety comes from inclusion, respect, and equal treatment. Passing SB?552 would reverse years of progress, undermine our civil rights laws, and send a dangerous message: some residents do not belong. Every person deserves dignity, safety, and equal protection under the law. I urge the Committee to reject SB?552 and uphold New Hampshire’s commitment to fairness, equity, and the well-being of all its residents.
