I urge you to support SB 598. Cyanobacteria blooms are no longer isolated events—they are increasing across New Hampshire and impacting more communities each year. These blooms threaten public health, close beaches, harm local economies, and place additional strain on drinking water systems. The Cyanobacteria Mitigation Loan and Grant Fund has already demonstrated that communities are ready to act when resources are available. Unfortunately, the fund is nearly exhausted, even as the need continues to grow. SB 598 recognizes that this challenge requires a coordinated, long-term funding strategy. By convening a task force of state leaders and stakeholders, the bill creates a pathway toward sustainable investment in clean water—something that benefits everyone. Clean lakes and rivers are foundational to New Hampshire’s identity and economy. SB 598 is an essential step to ensure we have the resources to protect them.
