Laura Colcord

I have a property on Tucker Pond in Salisbury, a lake which has experienced some of the worst cyanobacteria blooms of any lake in NH over the past 6 years, making the lake a health hazard to humans, pets, and wildlife, and reducing property values. We are not the only ones - many NH lakes have experienced blooms, and more will experience them in our future as climate change alters weather patterns. Our lakes are a critical resource for tourism, which has already been affected by this issue. NH lakes will need sustained help to reduce nutrient loading from all sources, a long-term and expensive proposition. Tucker Pond has been lucky enough to have obtained some grant support, and we are hoping that our 5-year project will help reduce this problem. Please support this bill - we can assure you that the problem is not going to go away on its own.
