I am a senior citizen living in the very depressed area of Berlin. I currently own my own home, I say currently, as the tax rate is becoming a very heavy burden on me and other seniors that I know. I have lived here a majority of my life from birth to now. I have seen the downfall in the city but I still love being in this area. It burdens my heart to think I would have to leave. The portion of our city taxes that goes to the school budget isn't sustainable. Open enrollment would be devastating to our local public schools and to the taxpayer. I urge you to oppose this bill.
