I’m opposed to this bill as it will unfairly affect student populations and therefore tax burdens disproportionately. The State of NH currently has no plans to boost its already paltry cost per student expenditure to cover the change in student enrollment figures. In lieu of providing adequate funding for education statewide the State of NH is attempting to put this burden on individual cities and towns to improve “underperforming” schools with no financial help. Parents who have the means may seek to access an education for their student in a nearby district and will be able to accomplish this due to their ability to provide transportation. This Bill only gives the appearance of school choice because not all parents can afford to, or have the flexibility in their schedule to provide transportation to another district.
