Dear Members of the Committee, I am writing in strong support of SB 101 and open enrollment in New Hampshire. Open enrollment provides families with flexibility while strengthening public schools through transparency and accountability. When families have the ability to choose the best fit within the public system, districts are encouraged to innovate and remain responsive to student needs. This bill is especially important for educators. Many districts state in their student policies that staff may tuition their children into the schools where they teach. However, in practice, teachers are often denied this opportunity — even when they are willing to pay tuition. This lack of support sends a discouraging message to those who dedicate their careers to serving their communities. Allowing educators to enroll their children where they work improves retention, reduces family strain, and strengthens school communities. Supporting teachers in this way ultimately benefits students as well. SB 101 is a practical, fair solution that empowers families and supports the professionals who serve our schools every day. I respectfully urge you to support its passage. Thank you for your time and consideration.
