Honorable Committee Members, I am writing to express my strong support for HB 1706, which would repeal New Hampshire's refugee resettlement program and prohibit state expenditures on refugee resettlement. Key reasons for my support: • Fiscal responsibility - New Hampshire taxpayers should not fund programs that duplicate federal efforts or strain our state budget • Federal alignment - With the Trump administration dismantling federal refugee programs, state involvement is unnecessary and counterproductive • Local priorities - Our limited state resources should focus on serving New Hampshire citizens and legal residents first • Government efficiency - Eliminating redundant state programs reduces bureaucratic waste and administrative costs New Hampshire has always been a state that believes in limited government and fiscal conservatism. HB 1706 upholds these principles by ensuring our tax dollars are spent on programs that directly benefit our residents rather than expanding government services. I urge you to vote in favor of HB 1706 and end New Hampshire's involvement in refugee resettlement. Respectfully, Caroline Boisseau-Johnson Boscawen, NH
