I support HB1117 because it is vital for the safety of our children to be involved in ALL medical decisions; particularly any that involve administering medications. Children do not know what they may have allergic reactions to, but their parents are often the ones who carry this information and know what will and will not be safe for their children to ingest or be injected with. If parents are not part of this conversation, it opens up a whole host of issues- including liability for negative health outcomes and legal action when a child may become ill from something that was administered to a child without the parents permission and knowledge. As a parent of a sensitive child, permission is 100% necessary for anything involved with my child. I'm the one who cares for them, and I'm the one who has to deal with and support my child if they experience an adverse reaction to something. Medical providers should automatically be expected to communicate to with the parents of children as a prerequisite for ANY and ALL medical interventions and procedures. Thank you. - Kerri Vercellini
