As a 50 year voting resident of NH and as a nurse for all of those years, mostly in community and public health, I urge this committee to oppose HB 1449. This bill is unecessary. There are currently a small number of school based imminization clinics and ther eshould be more, not less. When they do occur, there are very clear guidelines and prototcols in place, clear and detailed information is provided to familes, and permissions are obtained before the clinic. During the clinic, the school nurse and other public health professionals and volunteers use detailed protocols and no child is vaccinated without thorough screening and documented permissions. Having more clinic, not less, would be helpful to NH families. This bill creates significant barriers for working families and could further reduce vaccination rates by making it harder for many parents to access convenient, no-cost vaccine clinics. School-based clinics, have been a critical tool for reaching underserved communities and ensuring all children have access to protections against disease. It is a safe setting and it improves access to vaccines and it is beneficial to families. Please oppose this unecessary bill. Thank you for the opportunity to express my concerns.
