Right now, our country reads at a 6th grade reading level. With the rise of online or digital reading and writing, our youngest adults are already at a disadvantage due to relying on AI summaries. We need to be able to read and write to think and do almost any job. Depriving children who are struggling with reading from some targeted support hurts our country in the long run. We will lose great minds like scientists, researchers, lawyers, and doctors. These are people we need to help our country be strong. Letting reading fall to the wayside is a mistake. We need all of our kids to be able to read at a basic level so we have a good chance at getting some who can later become highly educated. Necsuse of this, I strongly oppose the repeal of the Reading Recovery Training Program.
