There is more concern in the NH legislature about billionaires paying business taxes than on supporting New Hampshire citizens. -NH Hunger Solutions reports that in January over 425,000 NH residents, including over 150,000 children lived in households that reported having insufficient food.report. -New Hampshire Fiscal Policy Institute said that as many as 17,000 may be eligible for benefits, but are not enrolled. -The Federal government has already made it more difficult for families to apply for SNAP - 77% of households on SNAP in NH have 1 working member. - The average amount of time for households to be on SNAP is 18 months. While legislators are worrying about candy purchases, non-working parents and out of state purchases, advocates worry that most SNAP recipients don't know how to claim all their available exemptions.
