HB1358 Title: establishing a commission to study transitioning all public schools to public charter schools and relative to the method for converting to a charter school.. This bill, sponsored by Free State Leader Jason Osborne, would open the door to elimination of public schools by converting them all to “charter schools” by local choice. This is apparently the new approach taken by conservatives nationwide to dismantle public education and lower taxes. These schools will not be required to provide special education services. It is ironic that the right-wing Free State Leader Osborne wants to eliminate public schools; convert them all to "charter schools" by local choice. The voucher supporters wanted a CHOICE to send their children to private schools (paid by State of NH). So where is the choice for parents who want their children to attend public schools (funded State of NH). This is an oxymoron concept drafted by Free Staters to eliminate special education services, offer NO CHOICES to proponents of public schools, and avoid lowering taxes. If parents want their children to attend Private Schools, then the parents pay for that privilege.
