I oppose HB 1797. This bill, relative to eligibility for public assistance, including the New Hampshire employment program, family assistance program and SNAP. These programs exist to protect and allow the most vulnerable in the state of New Hampshire - children on Medicaid and the elderly who depend on SNAP because they would otherwise make a decision to choose between rent, health care and food. This bill stigmatizes families on SNAP, creates burdens on retailers and would additionally affect persons who cross borders for legitimate reasons. Nearly everyone in New Hampshire lives near a border. The contents of grocery carts are under attack to the most vulnerable individuals in the state of New Hampshire. This is an intrusive way to govern individuals who are unhouse or have no choice but to purchase pre-packaged and ready-to-eat food because they don't have access to a kitchen. The problems that need solving are affordable housing, affordable food, transportation and health care, along with work force support. I strongly oppose HB HB1797. Doris Dawkins Doris Dawkins
