The Attorney General's Office has already investigated this matter and determined that Council member Liot did not violate the law. This bill therefore looks like a political hit job. Some Republicans are not satisfied with controlling the House, Senate, Gov's Office and a 4-1 majority on the Council. They want to wipe out any opposition. Even if Liot did what was alleged, impeachment is not a proper sanction. This is a political tool - and if the shoe were on the other foot you would be screaming "bloody murder."
