As the parent of a disabled young adult, I support this bill. Why? Because my son is a college student pursing a certificate in the trades. When completed, he will enter the workforce, and, within a few years he will be able to support himself. No one wants him to be dependent on the state. Yet, without the accommodations he receives in school, and without a fair shake at employment, he will not be able to pursue his goal of financial independence. Protecting the rights of the disabled to get an education and to access employment opportunities helps them support themselves financially and reduces the burden on the state. Please codify these important protections for the disabled citizens of New Hampshire because HB 1593 just makes sense - fiscally and morally.
