Educational leaders are essential to the success of our public schools. They set the tone, respond to student needs and crises, guide their staff, and communicate to the community. The idea that an elected superintendent can manage an entire county's set of schools is another way that local control could be undermined. Public education is a challenging field. Our children deserve dedicated experts to manage their schools, not politicians. I am opposed to this bill and this direction for our public education system. It would not make things better. Please oppose this bill.
