I oppose bill 1358. The bill proposing study for all public schools converting to charter is unwelcome. Charter schools are less accountable to tax payers, have less local control for townships, lower thresholds for voter buy-in of a drastic change to education. Additionally, claims of higher charter school test scores are disingenuous since charter have option for selective student body whereas public schools are required and meet the challenges educating all, multi-diverse-abled students.
