I strongly oppose HB 1712. This bill opens the door to converting locally governed public schools into charter conversion schools, weakening community oversight and diverting public education funds at a time when the state still has not met its constitutional obligation to adequately fund public schools. Our priority should be stabilizing and fully funding the system that serves the vast majority of students — not restructuring it. Please vote Inexpedient to Legislate on HB 1712.
