Please vote ITL on this bill. Charter schools are only successful because of their relationships with district public schools. Charter schools bear no responsibility for special education, student transportation, public health/school nurse services, or student meals.. They have no access to local property taxes and are often reliant on fundraising efforts to succeed beyond state aid. This commission would be a waste of time and resources, as you will quickly find that turning all public schools into charter schools will only hurt our low income students and build a larger gap in student achievement between those with wealth and resources and those without. Public education is for ALL students!
