Megan Adams

Good morning, my name is Megan, and I am a parent and member of this community. I am here to oppose HB 1268. This bill removes basic safeguards from homeschooling by eliminating notification requirements and making annual evaluations optional. Public schools are accountable - they track enrollment, show progress, and report how public funds are used. Many homeschooling families also receive public education funds, so the same level of accountability should apply. These safeguards aren’t just about academics; they help ensure children are safe and that no child falls through the cracks. Removing them weakens protections for kids and diminishes transparency for taxpayers. I urge the committee to vote NO on HB 1268 to protect children’s education and safety.
