I strongly oppose HB 1299. This bill would rewrite New Hampshire’s anti-discrimination law to allow public and private entities to classify people solely by biological sex in bathrooms, locker rooms, sports, correctional facilities, and other multi-user spaces — and then declare those distinctions “not discrimination.” That may sound tidy on paper, but it codifies exclusion and harms transgender and gender-diverse people by giving legal cover to policies that discriminate under the guise of “privacy.” New Hampshire has no business embedding harmful classifications into civil rights law. Everyone deserves dignity, safety, and equal protection under the law — not new loopholes that invite discrimination. I urge firm opposition to this bill.
