I was a behavior/ balanced dog trainer and dog owner for 36 years. I have known; including dogs and cats of my own and dogs and cats of family members, neighbors and clients, who have been over-vaccined either due to unknown vaccination status ( in rescue adoption situations) or required by law every 1-3 years as in cases where a due date has passed by weeks to a few months and the next rabies vaccines is by law only for one year which is the exact same vaccine for 3 years. This is where overdosing a pet happens. The required practice of vaccinating a dog or cat every 1-3 years without a titer test has caused far too many auto-immune conditions as well as near death or deaths in dogs and cats, especially older pets who have been nearly killed or have contracted chronic auto-immune issues resulting in continuing veterinary care and cost. I support this bill to allow pet owners to make informed, vet supported vaccination decisions with lower risk of health issues or death at the same time helping pet owners curb the rising cost of veterinary care but continuing to safeguard public health.
