As a small, local family farmer, I have deep respect for my community and my neighbors, and I work hard to maintain positive relationships with all of them. My livestock depend on the safety and protection that my livestock guardian dog provides, and this bill would only make that responsibility more difficult. Rather than supporting small farmers, it places additional burdens on those of us who are simply trying to care for our animals responsibly. I see this as an unnecessary attack on small farms and New Hampshire’s strong homesteading culture. Our state has always valued independence, personal responsibility, and liberty. Family farming is deeply rooted in the Granite State way of life, and it represents more than just a livelihood—it is a tradition passed down through generations. Policies like this threaten that tradition and undermine the freedom of families to responsibly care for their land and animals. Small farmers deserve support, not regulation that makes it harder to survive. Our way of life should be protected, not restricted, and I urge lawmakers to respect the values that have long made New Hampshire strong.
