I am a mother whose two children are receiving EFA funding. After the public school board and administrators in my town, broke the trust of my family and in my opinion, failed my children, the personal relationship between my family and the staff at The Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF) has been instrumental in regaining trust in our education options in our state. We left the public school system due to many issues including the ignorance of school board representatives on how education is funded in our state and the legal obligations of the public schools to provide a welcoming environment for all students and staff. That was a complete failure. I was even told - on more than once occasion - that my Christianity and conservative values were not welcome in our public schools. If it were not for the loving support and guidance of the CSF, my local district would have found themselves in legal trouble since they were discriminating against my family based on our religious beliefs. The CSF saved my family and my children and provided a service the government failed to provide. Removing the CSF from the equation and handing these families back over to the government who failed us in the first place is a terrible idea and it will backfire. Trust me.
