I am in opposition of this bill due to its discriminatory nature. There are many people born intersex that may identify more with this gender marker than “M” or “F”, though it is often intersex people are forgotten in these bills are the bills are typically aimed at lgbtq. Having an “X” identification marker does not cause any harm to anyone, and causes no more confusion for anyone’s identification than removing it. For example having an “M” identification marker when that person presents as a feminine or androgynous would be just as if not more confusing than allowing the continuation of the “X” gender marker. Removing it just allows the unnecessary outing of a person as not cisgender. This gender marker, and allowing people to change their gender markers does not do anything but allow the person to change their marker to match their identity, often times matching their physical description better than their gender assigned at birth. This bill is discriminatory and another attempt at erasing trans people, and further ignoring the fact that intersex people exist. Please consider the people this will affect when it is completely unnecessary.
