I am a New Hampshire citizen with an X marker on my id. Having a correct marker allows me to present ID without revealing sensitive information about my body to people who don't need it. The gender marker doesn't serve a purpose and should be removed altogether, but if it must stay it should reflect identity and not what was observed at birth, which for me and many others has no bearing on anything an ID would normally be used for.
