I oppose HB 1815 because I stand for educational opportunity for ALL New Hampshire children regardless of where they live. I oppose bills like HB 1815 that remove local control and limit state responsibility for equality in education while empowering top officials to make decisions based on their political stance. The future of our state is dependent on the education of our youth. Any changes in language around the state's responsibility for adequate funding make me concerned about our neediest students and how they are treated. The local tax base should not determine if their needs are met or not. Every school district, regardless of local property tax base, should be able to provide an adequate education with assistance from the state.
